Nashville, TN – April 2, 2010 -  Chris Eggleston looked strong in the morning practice sessions for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Nashville 200 as the Colorado native was in the top-fifteen in the final practice session for Friday night’s event.

An unfortunate qualifying draw left Chris with the number one spot and he would have to take the first laps on the track in the qualifying session. Despite the handicap, Chris got on the wheel and laid down a lap of 31.24 seconds, which was within one tenth of a second of his practice time.

“We practiced fairly well; both in race trim and qualifying trim,” Eggleston said. “The draw hurt us, but I was happy with the lap because I felt we would be competitive in the race.”

Chris started strong and was up to fourteenth on lap five and settled into a nice rhythm keeping his H2O Fire Protection Chevy in the top-twenty during the races early stages as Kyle Busch was blistering the field up front.

The first caution flew on lap thirty-two and despite the fast pace of the leaders; Chris was still on the lead lap. “We were very competitive the first fifty laps, I was running with Ricky Carmichael and Justin Lofton and the truck felt real good,” he commented.

After the first pitstop, the truck began to get tight and Chris could not get back on the gas as soon as he wanted and he lost a lap to the leaders.

The youngsters fortune would change for the worse during a green flag pit stop just past the races midway point as all of the lugnuts were not fastened on the left front wheel when the jack was dropped and Eggleston pulled out of the pits. He was forced to come back down pit-road to get the missing lug nuts replaced, which dropped Chris two more laps to the leaders. 

The race ended with Chris a disheartening twenty-fourth in the final rundown behind Busch, who was untouchable throughout the race. “I just wanted to stay out of everyone’s way at the end, we started out good and we lost the handle a little then one little thing just compounded our fortunes and put us back in the field. I know we are better than we showed tonight and I can’t wait to get to Kansas next month.” 

Miller knew one had slipped away from the team. “We had a much better truck than where we finished, we had a top-fifteen truck in the beginning and we lost the handle on the truck.” 

“We didn’t give Chris the chance to show his talent tonight, the driver was better than the truck was.” Miller added. “I have confidence in this team, we’ll learn from it and head to Kansas where I’m sure that things will go much better.”

The next NCWTS race for Chris Eggleston and the H2O Fire Protection team is the O’Reilly 250 on May 2, 2010 at the Kansas Speedway.
