Chris took a week off from racing at his home track in Colorado to go race for Zahnow Motorsports while under the influence of Short Track Enterprises who prepared and crewed for the team.
After qualifying sixth of the 24 car field and an invert of eight, Chris rolled off third for the 200 lap main event. As the green flag flew, the pole position car failed to accelerate, and Chris fell all the way back to the seventh position. However, within the first 40 laps, Chris had taken over the lead passing legend Garret Evans in lap traffic. By the end of the first 100 lap segment, Chris had almost a half a lap lead over second place.
Several restarts occurred at the beginning of the second segment. After a slight jump from the second place car, Chris got stuck on the outside and slipped back to fifth. However, it was only a handful of laps before Chris climbed back up to third. After consistently trying to regain the second position from Garret Evans for over fifty laps, Chris finally got a clean run next to Evans; unfortunately, Evans came down on Chris and sent Chris up and over the back of Evans car forcing Chris to retire for the night.
